Move For Justice: A Fundraiser For The Leona Tate Foundation For Change
I’m excited to be joining my fellow teachers at Wild Lotus Yoga here in New Orleans for a special fundraiser. Please join us in contributing to the Tate, Etienne, Prevost (TEP) Interpretive Center — an amazing project in development in the Lower Ninth Ward, founded by New Orleans Civil Rights pioneer Leona Tate. Ms. Tate is transforming the school building that she with her first grade classmates, Gail Etienne and Tessie Prevost, desegregated, amidst violent crowds on November 14, 1960. The TEP Center is scheduled to open in Spring 2021 as a community campus dedicated to educating people about New Orleans’ Civil Rights history, dismantling racism, and providing affordable senior housing.
You can support by attending a live yoga class (with social distance), a Zoom class, bidding on one-of-a-kind experiences and works of art, and purchasing raffle tickets. One of the auction items will be a private 2 hour yoga journey over Zoom that’ll I’ll be creating tailored to your life at this moment — integrating meditation, chant, music, readings, ritual, movement, guided relaxation, a closing lullaby, and any other practices that support your intentions. Includes a half hour meeting before the session is scheduled to listen to your intentions, so the experience can be customized to you. Bidding will launch on Friday August 15th.
